Bolton to Win

Reason for tip

Bolton look primed to edge Barnsley on Boxing Day, boasting five wins in their last seven home League One games. Sitting eighth with games in hand, Ian Evatt’s side will exploit Barnsley’s defensive frailties, as the visitors have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last seven matches.

Bolton 1-0

Reason for tip

A 1-0 victory for Bolton appeals, capitalizing on Barnsley’s defensive struggles. Bolton’s strong home form, with four wins in five, combined with Barnsley’s lack of confidence after a 4-0 loss to Leyton Orient, sets the stage for a narrow but decisive Bolton win at the Toughsheet Community Stadium.

Bolton vs Barnsley Predictions

Bolton to build on strong run

Bolton are worth backing to get the better of Barnsley on Boxing Day. Ian Evatt’s side have won five of their last seven League One home games and will be confident of improving that impressive record at the Toughsheet Community Stadium.

Bolton are eighth, one place and one point above Barnsley in ninth, but they have played two fewer games. The hosts have nine wins, four draws and six defeats so far, while the visitors have eight wins, six draws and seven losses.

Barnsley lost 4-0 to Leyton Orient on Saturday in their last League One outing and will be in low spirits after such a poor performance.

Barnsley have serious defensive problems. They have failed to keep a clean sheet in 17 of their last 20 League One games, including each of their last seven.

Bolton are in better form at home with four wins in their last five and have the advantage in the table, despite being just one point ahead of their opponents.

They earned a point in a 0-0 draw at Wycombe on Friday and can bounce back from a 2-0 loss to Wigan in front of their supporters in their last home match which was a drop down in the majority of performances.

A narrow 1-0 win for Bolton appeals in the correct-score market after losing by that score at Wrexham earlier this month.
