Borussia Dortmund Double Chance (Win or Draw)
Reasoning
Borussia Dortmund vs Manchester City Predictions
- Dortmund have won their last two games 7-0 on aggregate
- The hosts have lost just twice across their last 14 home games in the Champions League
- Dortmund haven’t lost in their last six at home in all competitions
- Bellingham has scored in all of Dortmund’s Champions League games so far this term
Good week for Dortmund
After a tough spell, Dortmund have bounced back well to claim two wins in the last seven days. They had gone three games without a win, before beating Hannover 2-0 and then hammering Stuttgart 5-0.
Dortmund have the chance to follow up those two good results by securing their place in the last 16 of the Champions League. Man City have already secured their spot in the next round, while a point here would book top spot for them, likely taking Dortmund through with them.
Elite scorers on display
This clash pits together two of the standout players from this season’s Champions League. Across the first four matchdays, no player has been directly involved in more goals than Manchester City’s Erling Haaland (five goals) or Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham (four goals, one assist).
Bellingham has score struck in each of his four appearances in this competition this term. He’s also found the net in each of their last two games, hitting three goals in that run. He’s great value to add to his fine scoring form, especially having scored in his last two clashes with City.
Dortmund tough to beat at home
Borussia Dortmund have only lost two of their last 14 home games in the Champions League (W8 D4). They head into this game unbeaten in their last six at home, having fought back to claim a 2-2 draw against Bayern Munich at Signal-Iduna Park recently.
City drew 0-0 at Copenhagen in their last European game, following that up with a loss at Liverpool in their last away game. The Citizens only need a point in this trip and a defeat would leave Dortmund waiting for the final day to qualify, so I’m backing them to build on their good form and get at least a point.
Only one team have prevented Borussia Dortmund from scoring in their last 20 games in the Champions League. The German side have averaged 1.9 goals per game in this run, netting 38 times overall.
