Borussia Dortmund -1

Reason for tip

Dortmund have not played out a goalless draw in any of their last 99 matches while they’ve scored in 37 consecutive Bundesliga games, we expect them to carry on that streak against their hapless rivals Schalke!

Borussia Dortmund 2-0

Reason for tip

Dortmund have scored seven times without reply across the last two home H2Hs, we’re going for a similarly large margin of victory with yet another clean sheet.

Borussia Dortmund vs Schalke Predictions

  • Dortmund have scored seven goals without reply across the last two home Revierderbies.
  • Dortmund will set a club record of straight scoring Bundesliga games with one goal.
  • Schalke failed to win five of their last six matches.

The mother of all derbies returns

After a one season hiatus, the Revierderby returns as Dortmund welcome their bitter rivals Schalke to Signal Iduna Park for the first contest of the season. Dortmund have a slight disadvantage with fewer rest days following a midweek trip to Manchester, though they’ll take little geeing up for this, the  visit of their bitter rivals.

The all-time record in this game paints a balanced picture (Dortmund: W36, D30, L32), though it is Dortmund who have the quality in players and the recent dominance in terms of how these sides have been doing domestically.

Schalke enter this on the back of another Ruhr derby win over Bochum, though that was their first win in six attempts and this one promises to be a much tougher proposition in front of an electric Dortmund atmosphere, and that’s not to mention the fact that Schalke are yet to win away from home in the league this season.

Edin Terzic’s men can turn up the hear

Defeat was always expected in midweek, but this is a different matter altogether for Dortmund and their famed yellow wall. We’re backing the hosts to inflict further away misery upon their greatest rivals with a -1 handicap selection.

While the handicap market seems to be the way to go, Dortmund are much less potent this term without the services of Erling Haaland and are averaging just 1.3 scored goals per league game, so we’re going for a more modest 2-0 in the correct score market.
