Borussia M'gladbach vs Eintracht Frankfurt Predictions, Betting Tips, & Match Preview

Borussia Monchengladbach have been struggling both domestically and also at the European level so far this season. The “German Team” did find their first win in the Champions League with a 2-0 win away to Celtic last Wednesday, but they are still in need of a boost in the Bundesliga. Last Saturday’s 3-0 win in Hamburg brought Eintracht back to winning ways – the first time they’ve taken three points in four matches. Last weekend’s win combined with their equally impressive 2-2 draw at home to Bayern Munich in the match prior means Frankfurt are enjoying their joint best ever start to a new Bundesliga season. Frankfurt should be confident in their ability to give M’gladbach a decent fight here.

Borussia M’gladbach come into this match as the bookies’ favourite at 5/6. There are plenty of reasons we fancy the hosts here, despite Frankfurt’s promising performances over the past weeks: Gladbach’s home form is remarkable – Borussia M’gladbach have won all but three of their last 19 Bundesliga home matches (W16 D2 L1) – and they have a really strong track record against Frankfurt – Borussia M’gladbach have won 8 of the last 11 against them (W8 D1 L2). M’gladbach were also the hardest team for Frankfurt to play against last season, suffering an 8-1 aggregate defeat over both home and away legs.

However, though the goal market offers shorter odds, we feel that’s the safer bet here because of M’gladbach’s recent “deflation” and Frankfurt’s ability to produce “shock” results. Goals are an inevitability when M’gladbach play at home and over 2.5 goals were scored in 9 of M’gladbach’s 12 home matches (75%) in 2016. Also, over 2.5 goals were scored in the last four meetings between M’gladbach and Frankfurt at BORUSSIA-Park – both teams scored in three of these. As such, over 2.5 goals is our choice bet and still decent value at 7/10.

Gladbach have averaged 2.66 goals per game at home in 2016. Meanwhile, Frankfurt have failed to score in 8 of their 12 matches on the road in 2016, though they have scored 5 goals in their last three (1.66 goals per game). With Borussia M’gladbach conceding exactly one in four of their last five home wins, we feel a correct score bet of M’gladbach to win 3-1 at 12/1 also seems a decent shout.
