Bradford vs Colchester Predictions

Goals in short supply

Goals could be at a premium when Bradford take on Colchester at Valley Parade on Saturday, and under 2.5 goals looks the best bet.

Five of the last seven League Two meetings between these teams have gone under 2.5 goals and 25 of Colchester’s 37 matches this season have followed suit.

Bradford are second in League Two, five places above Colchester, with 19 wins, nine draws and nine losses from their 37 games. The visitors are seventh, having won 14, drawn 16 and lost seven.

Bradford have lost their last two League Two matches but Colchester are on a winning run of two straight away games, having beaten Cheltenham 1-0 in their most recent match on the road two weeks ago.

Bradford’s 1-0 defeat to Tranmere last weekend was their ninth League Two game in 11 with under 2.5 goals and means they have failed to win four of the 15 games in which they have been odds-on this season. Bradford, who were priced at 8/13 to win, had more possession – 66.7% – than in any League Two game they’ve played this season.

Both teams are solid at the back, which points to a low-scoring encounter. Bradford have shipped just 31 goals in League Two this season – an average of 0.84 per game – while Colchester have kept out their opponents in four of the last five.

Colchester’s last four League Two away games have all finished with fewer than three goals and there have been under 2.5 goals in 13 of their 18 matches on the road this season.

These teams could cancel each other out, with a 0-0 draw a real possibility. Three of Bradford’s nine draws in League Two this season have finished goalless and Colchester have played out six goalless draws. There have been fewer than three goals in nine of Bradford’s last 11 games.
