Brentford vs Chelsea Predictions
- Both teams have scored in three of Brentford’s last four games.
- Chelsea have conceded in eight consecutive away games.
- Chelsea have won just one of their last nine away.
Bees in need of home comforts
Brentford were excellent at home in the opening stages of the season but recently they’ve struggled in front of their own fans.
Visitors Chelsea have been in poor form away from home, so it is hard to back either of these teams with a great deal of confidence in terms of a result.
One market that does stand out is both teams to score – as both of these sides look vulnerable at the back and have quality attacking options.
Both teams can strike in West London Derby
Brentford have only failed to score in one of their last six games and they’ve gone four games without a clean sheet.
Chelsea claimed a 1-0 win over Spurs on Thursday as they recorded a fourth clean sheet in six games. However, all of those shut-outs have come at Stamford Bridge and they have gone nine games without a clean sheet on their travels, a run dating back to December.
Spoils could be shared
Brentford were unbeaten in five against their West London rivals prior to a 2-1 defeat in the reverse fixture and they may be able to get something out of this game on Sunday.
Thomas Frank’s side are winless in eight at home but they have had a tough run of games, having come up against all of Chelsea’s top five rivals during that period.
Chelsea have only won one of their last nine away games (D2, L6) and that victory came at FC Copenhagen in the Conference League. The Blues’ last Premier League road win was way back in December, so they offer little appeal as 23/20 favourites.
Both of these teams are in solid form overall, however, Chelsea have five wins in their last six and the Bees have three wins and a draw over the same period across all competitions. There is a chance they could cancel each other out and a repeat of last season’s 2-2 draw at this venue has a chance, as over 2.5 goals has been a winning bet in the last two meetings and at least one team has scored exactly two goals in each of the last four (Brentford three times and Chelsea twice).
Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo has scored in back-to-back games as he hit his side’s consolation strike at Newcastle last time out, having grabbed a goal for Cameroon during the international break. Mbuemo has 16 goals in 30 league games this term and may be able to add to his account against Chelsea.
