Brentford vs Forest Green Rovers Predictions

  • Brentford are likely to make several changes in defence and rest first-choice goalkeeper David Raya.
  • Both teams have scored in the last six Forest Green matches.
  • Forest Green drew 2-2 with a strong Bristol City side in the previous round, before winning on penalties.

Bees backers should beware in-form Green

The Bees are odds-on favourites to see off League Two Forest Green Rovers in the second round of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday, but their backers could get stung.

Thomas Frank’s side have made a very good start to life in the Premier League and reached the semi-final of this competition last season, so will probably be targeting another cup run.

However, Forest Green are in outstanding form and shouldn’t be underestimated in terms of a potential upset here, although there is probably better value to be had elsewhere.

Rob Edwards’ side destroyed Crawley Town 6-3 at the weekend to retain top spot with the opposition manager freely admitting that the Green could have scored ten.

The match followed a familiar pattern with Rovers scoring first – and early – before conceding an equaliser and then stepping it up to take the three points.

And, although there are three divisions and over 60 league places between the clubs right now, we fancy the visitors to get on the scoresheet at the Brentford Community Stadium on Tuesday.

Frank will probably give a number of his fringe men a run out and make a change in goal, which offers encouragement on the Green to notch.

But Ivan Toney may be one of his regulars who stays in the line-up as Frank attempts to give a goalscoring kickstart last season’s 33-goal top gun.

Forest Green have conceded six in their first four league games and two prior to their penalty shoot-out win over Bristol City in round one.

It’s unlikely they keep their first clean sheet of the season at Brentford, so we’re taking both teams to score here and predicting a similar 2-2 scoreline to the Nailsworth nail-biter in the previous round.
