Brentford vs Manchester City Predictions
- Brentford have won seven of their ten Premier League home games.
- Manchester City have only won one of their last nine away games.
- The Citizens have conceded exactly twice in seven of these nine trips, losing 2-1 on four occasions.
Bees target quick response to FA Cup despair
Brentford suffered a shock FA Cup exit at the hands of Plymouth on Saturday, but they may be able to bounce back when they host Manchester City in midweek.
The Bees have endured a difficult festive period but, despite recent home losses to Nottingham Forest and Arsenal, their record at the Brentford Community Stadium shouldn’t be overlooked.
They have taken 22 points from a possible 30 in front of their own fans and have scored 27 goals in this period, while their visitors have been torrid on the road recently.
Defending champions struggle on the road
Pep Guardiola’s side have begun something of a resurgence with three straight victories, but these came against Leicester, West Ham, and Salford City, and only their 2-0 win against the Foxes was away from home.
Prior to victory at the King Power Stadium they had drawn one and lost seven of their previous eight competitive away games, leaving them sixth in the table and 12 points adrift of the top spot they are most accustomed to occupying.
Mbeumo can sting struggling Citizens
Thomas Frank’s side did the double over the Citizens in the 2022/23 season, and they look good value to get a point or more on Tuesday.
With seven wins but no clean sheets at home this season, a Manchester City goal does look a certainty, but the visitors have conceded exactly twice in seven of their last nine on the road and four of these have been 2-1 defeats, so that looks the best correct score prediction.
Bryan Mbeumo could be one of the home goalscorers, too. The 25-year-old has returned to form since the turn of the year, with three goals and an assist in his last two Premier League games. He should be fresh after starting on the bench against Plymouth.
