Brentford and Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Brentford’s brilliant home form has turned of late, but they have played each of their last four home matches against the top four. Outside of that, the Bees have won seven of eight home matches and they host a Tottenham side who have lost seven of 11 trips and six of their previous seven in the league. Spurs rarely fail to deliver going forward, so back them to score in a defeat.

Brentford 3-2

Reason for tip

Tottenham’s previous five Premier League defeats have come by a single goal, while they’ve averaged 1.73 goals per away game despite their struggles on the road. The Bees’ home matches have featured an average of 4.33 goals per game, so back the haywire visitors to bump that number up with a five-goal thriller.

Yoane Wissa To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Bryan Mbeumo is taking most of the plaudits for Brentford this season, but Yoane Wissa leads the Bees in Expected Goals. The forward has scored 11 times from 10.4 xG, while he’s netted nine of those in 10 appearances at the Gtech.

Brentford vs Tottenham Hotspur Predictions

  • Tottenham have lost six of their last seven Premier League games
  • The visitors have lost six of eight visits to sides above them
  • Brentford have won seven of eight at home to sides outside the top four
  • Yoane Wissa has scored 11 Premier League goals this term, with nine of those coming in 10 home appearances

Spurs are looking over their shoulder

Tottenham got the job done in the Europa League this week, but their Premier League woes continue. Ange Postecoglou’s side hit a new low in last weekend’s 2-1 defeat to Leicester. They’ve now been beaten in six of their last seven Premier League outings, leaving them in 15th.

While Spurs started the campaign with hopes of a top-four finish, they’re now nervously glancing over their shoulder at the bottom three. With just eight points between them and the drop zone Spurs should be panicking ahead of a difficult visit to Brentford.

Bees can get Gtech buzzing again

Brentford’s run as the Premier League’s strongest home side has quickly turned, as they head into this weekend winless in five at their own ground. However, upset against Plymouth Argyle aside, the Bees were dealt a tough run of fixtures.

Brentford have hosted the top four across their previous four home matches, suffering three defeats and a draw. Outside of that they’ve been brilliant at their own ground, winning seven of eight matches. They’ve really put on a show against weaker teams, as they’ve scored three or more in six of their seven home wins.

Thomas Frank can get Brentford back on track this week, as this is a much easier fixture than they’ve faced of late. The flailing visitors have been beaten in seven of their 11 trips this season, while they’ve lost six of eight games away to sides above them.

Hosts to win a thriller

These two sides continue to suffer huge injury issues, particularly at the back. The pair have been among the most entertaining sides in the division as a result, conceding a combined 77 goals.

Spurs continue to stick to their ultra-aggressive principles, which has seen them score in five of their last six defeats, only failing to net against Nottingham Forest. Meanwhile, Brentford have conceded 23 goals in 12 home matches, failing to keep a clean sheet in any of their seven home wins.

With Brentford’s home matches this season featuring 4.33 goals per game and Tottenham losing by a single goal in their previous five league defeats, a 3-2 home win is my correct score prediction, alongside Brentford to win and both teams to score.

While Bryan Mbeumo leads the anytime scorer betting, Yoane Wissa is the standout option here. The forward leads the way in terms of Expected Goals for Brentford, with 10.4 for the campaign. He’s scored 11 times, including nine goals in 10 appearances at home. Back him to expose an injury-hit Spurs backline.
