Brighton to Win

Reason for tip

Dean Huijsen’s suspension means Bournemouth are a bit short at the back for their trip to Brighton, who have won their last three games and can make it five wins in six meetings with the Cherries.

Brighton 2-1

Reason for tip

While Bournemouth may not pick up any points at the AmEx, they should at least score. The Cherries have netted 21 goals across their last six matches and a repeat of Brighton’s 2-1 win in the reverse fixture looks likely.

Kaoru Mitoma To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Kaoru Mitoma has been in red-hot form for the Seagulls, scoring five goals in seven games, and can make it four in as many games against an opponent he has put four past in his four previous head-to-heads.

Brighton vs AFC Bournemouth Predictions

  • Brighton have scored nine goals while winning their last three matches
  • After losing none of their previous 11 Premier League matches, Bournemouth have tasted defeat in two of their last three
  • The Seagulls have won four of the last five head-to-heads

Seagulls set to pick off Cherries

Two of the Premier League’s most exciting teams will do battle at the AmEx Stadium on Tuesday and there is plenty to play for on the south coast, with both Brighton and Bournemouth among the plethora of teams in the race for European football.

The Seagulls are ninth but only three points off the Cherries in sixth, a gap which is unlikely to remain by Wednesday morning, with the hosts fancied to secure an important victory.

Fabian Hurzeler and his side have shown great resilience to bounce back from a 7-0 hammering at Nottingham Forest which would have derailed many teams’ seasons to win their subsequent three matches.

Back Brighton to extend winning run

The first two of those victories came against Chelsea – in the FA Cup and then in the league – before the Seagulls showed just how dangerous they can be when routing Southampton 4-0 on Saturday, racking up a mammoth 3.9 expected goals in the process.

On the same day, Bournemouth were beaten 1-0 at home by Wolves, a disappointing result which was made worse by the red card for their best defender, Dean Huijsen.

The Cherries centre-back will be sorely missed at the AmEx, with Andoni having no natural replacement at his disposal, meaning he will have to play somebody out of position, which could upset the balance of his side and swing the tie in the Seagulls’ favour.

Mitoma may strike again

With Bournemouth depleted at the back, Brighton’s talented attack could get the chance to shine again, just as they did at Southampton.

Joao Pedro, Georginio Rutter, Yankuba Minteh and Kaoru Mitoma were all extremely effective against the Premier League’s basement boys but while all are capable of finding the net against the Cherries, it is the latter who appeals most in the anytime goalscore betting.

Mitoma has scored five goals in his last seven games and, having netted in each of his last three matches as well as notching four in as many appearances against Bournemouth, he is fancied to help the Seagulls to a 2-1 victory on Tuesday.
