Brighton vs West Bromwich Albion Predictions
- West Brom are winless in the Premier League this season and have lost both away games.
- Brighton have only kept one clean sheet in their five Premier League matches.
- Neal Maupay has scored four goals in his last four Premier League appearances.
Seagulls search for results
Brighton’s Premier League winless streak extended to three matches last weekend when they drew away to Crystal Palace, but the Seagulls’ results somewhat belie their performances so far.
Graham Potter’s side have looked excellent at times this season, and their 3-2 defeat to Manchester United was particularly cruel. However, facing a dour looking West Brom side, we’re predicting them to come out on top on Monday.
West Brom destined for relegation scrap
The visiting Baggies were involved in the first goalless draw of the season in the Premier League last Monday as they hosted Burnley, and the relegation favourites remain without a top flight win this season.
They have lost three of their five matches so far, but the main problem is that they never actually look capable of winning a match. Even when they were 3-0 up against Chelsea there was never any confidence they could see the result out, and the 13 goals they have conceded speak of a real problem at the back.
This defensive frailty could come back to haunt them at the Amex Stadium, because they’re facing a Brighton side that have scored an impressive nine goals so far this term and haven’t failed to find the net in any of their five league matches.
Brighton justified favourites at the Amex
Brighton may have only won one game so far, but their performances deserve more and their fixture list has been incredibly demanding so far. They have had to face Chelsea and Manchester United as well as the in-form Everton, and Monday’s opponents shouldn’t pose anywhere near the same level of threat.
With West Brom losing both of their away games so far, backing a Brighton win looks good value. The Baggies have scored five goals so far this season though and face a Brighton side with just one clean sheet to their name, so a consolation is on the cards and a 2-1 correct score prediction is our choice.
We’re also dipping into the anytime goalscorer market with a Neal Maupay selection. The Brighton forward has scored four goals in his five top flight appearances this season and has found the net in three of his last four Premier League outings.
Brighton injuries and team news
The big loss for Brighton is Lewis Dunk’s suspension after getting sent off last weekend, with Ben White expected to deputise in the centre of defence for them.
Florin Andone and Alireza Jahanbakhsh remain on the sidelines, while new signing Danny Welbeck is a doubt along with Christian Walton and Jose Izquierdo.
West Brom injuries and team news
Karlan Grant made his debut for West Brom last week and could push for another start on Monday, with Slaven Bilic possibly naming an unchanged starting lineup from the one that drew against Burnley.
Sam Field and Hal Robson-Kanu will miss out through injury though.
