Bristol City to Win

Reason for tip

Middlesbrough have fallen off the pace in the race for a Championship playoff place and they are unlikely to get back on track against a Bristol City side on the fringes of the top six. Boro are winless in six matches against these opponents and they have won just one of their last eight matches in all competitions. A four-match losing streak suggests the visitors should be taken on at Ashton Gate this week.

Bristol City 2-1

Reason for tip

Middlesbrough are on a miserable run but they have managed to get on the scoresheet in five of their last six matches. However, City are in much better shape, and, having scored at least twice in five of their last six meetings with Boro, look the bet to come out on top with a 2-1 victory this Friday.

Bristol City vs Middlesbrough Predictions

  • Middlesbrough have lost six of their last seven matches in all competitions
  • Bristol City are unbeaten in six meetings with Boro, winning on four occasions
  • Both teams have scored in seven of the last eight meetings between these two

Beleaguered Boro face more misery

Middlesbrough manager Michael Carrick was given the dreaded vote of confidence during the week but the beleaguered Boro boss’s position could become even more precarious following this trip to Bristol City.

The Teesiders were booed off the pitch following last Saturday’s 1-0 home loss to Watford, that result one of six defeats from Middlesbrough’s last seven matches in all competitions.

And things could get worse for Carrick and co this week as they head to a Bristol City side on Friday who they have had little joy against recently.

City are unbeaten in six meetings with Boro, winning four times, and we predict another victory for the Robins this week.

Liam Manning’s side are in striking distance of the Championship playoff places and things could have looked even better had they held out for a win against Cardiff last weekend.

It was a blow to concede in added time to draw 1-1 with the Bluebirds, but Bristol have been making steady progress, losing just two of their last 11 league matches.

Back on home soil they can land a vital victory, and, having scored at least twice in five of their last six meetings with Boro, should be backed to prevail with a 2-1 scoreline which is our prediction for correct score punters.

Boro may be in the doldrums but they have scored in seven of their last nine fixtures, so an away goal shouldn’t be ruled out at Ashton Gate.
