Birmingham To Win To Nil

Reason for tip

Bristol Rovers have lost their last three games and confidence has been drained from the team. Meanwhile, Birmingham City have won six of their last 10 away league matches and kept clean sheets in four of their last eight on the road.

Birmingham 1-0

Reason for tip

Birmingham have won six of their last 10 away league matches and kept clean sheets in four of their last eight on the road. The Blues have scored no more than once in six of those eight trips, so a 1-0 win could be on the cards against a Rovers team that look drained of confidence.

  • Birmingham City have kept clean sheets in four of their last eight away league contests

Leaders look good for an away win

Birmingham City are fancied to annexe the points when they travel to the Memorial Stadium to face a Bristol Rovers side with fragile confidence on Tuesday. The League One leaders thrashed bottom club Shrewsbury 4-1 at St Andrew’s on Saturday for their third win in four games.

Although they have been better at home than on their travels, Chris Davies’ side should still have too much for the Gas. Inigo Calderon admitted his relegation-threatened side have to be mentally stronger after he saw them collapse to a third straight defeat on Saturday.

In a game that lacked quality from both teams, Rovers shot themselves in the foot twice with mistakes that led to both Mansfield goals in a 2-1 home defeat. The Gas now only have a six-point cushion to the relegation places and that could be cut further in midweek as they face the best team in the division.

Back a Blues clean sheet at the Memorial Stadium

The Blues have slipped up on a couple of away trips lately, losing 3-1 at Bolton and taking only a point at Sixfields against a lowly Northampton side. But they should be able to collect all three points in this clash with the potential for them to earn a clean sheet too.

Davies’ side have shut out four of their last eight away opponents and will not fear a Bristol Rovers attack that looked toothless at times on Saturday. Calderon swapped personnel and changed formations in an attempt to revive them in the second half but to no avail.
