Highflyers Hungary should edge Bulgaria

Bottom plays top in Group G of Euro 2024 qualifying when Bulgaria welcome Hungary to the Hristo Botev Stadium on Thursday.

Visitors Hungary head to Plovdiv knowing they require just one point from their remaining two fixtures in Group G  to book their place in Germany next summer.

Bulgaria, meanwhile, are bottom of their section and are the only team in Group G yet to pick up a win after six games.

Home is where the heart has been for Hungary, who have recorded wins in all three of their matches on their own turf to boost their qualifying chances, but they also won away to Serbia in early September.

Their other two away fixtures ended as draws with Montenegro and Lithuania but they are a cut above Bulgaria and can seal qualification with three points.

Goals could be in short supply in Plovdiv

However, punters should expect a gritty affair in Plovdiv and should combine a Hungary win with under 3.5 goals.

All six of Bulgaria’s Euro 2024 qualifiers have featured under 3.5 goals and the same applies to five of Hungary’s six assignments.

Bulgaria have struggled for goals recently, firing blanks against Iran, Lithuania and Albania since the start of September and 2-0 to Hungary represents a decent correct score prediction.
