Boca Juniors and Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Boca Juniors have won three of their last six league games with both teams scoring in each and take on a Platense side that have struggled so far in this phase. But the hosts did get their first goal since April in a 1-1 draw last time out and can get on the board here too.

Boca Juniors 3-1

Reason for tip

Boca Juniors, who have scored eight goals in their last three games, have beaten Platense 3-1 in three of the last five meetings. Another such scoreline would not be a surprise after Platense broke their two-game scoring duck last weekend.

Boca can bag a few goals again

Boca Juniors should pick up their first win of the Argentinean top-flight’s second phase when they travel to Estadio Ciudad de Vicente López to face struggling Platense on Sunday.

Xenieze are coming off a 4-0 Copa Sudamericana home win over Nacional Potosi and look capable of grabbing a few more goals in this clash with a club from the Buenos Aires suburbs.

Diego Martinez is without eight players through injury at the moment, but some young players have come in and stepped up while there is a hope that Uruguayan forward Miguel Merentiel can shake off a fever to be involved in this game.

Platense to play their part in an entertaining affair

Platense have not fared well against Boca in the past, but did hold on for a 0-0 draw when the sides last met at their stadium in January. The stats from that game indicate it was an even affair, but the visitors did not have their best XI out.

It was also the opening game of the first phase and Martinez’s men were probably not up to full speed at that point, but they are now and should get the win they need to boost confidence levels ahead of their next test – a clash with Apertura champions Velez Sarsfield.

Given Platense broke their two-game scoring duck in last week’s 1-1 draw at Atletico Tucuman, it is fair to assume they can score in this clash with Boca potentially set to run out 3-1 winners for the fourth time in six meetings with their hosts.
