Under 2.5 Match Goals

Reason for tip

Fewer than three goals have been scored in five of Cagliari’s seven league games this term. Torino have done just enough to get results on their travels and one strike may be all they need against a team that has failed to score a goal in three of their four home league games this season.

Torino 1-0

Reason for tip

Cagliari have lost three of their last five Serie A matches while Torino have won two of their last three away league matches, so a 1-0 away win might be possible given Cagliari’s scoring problems at home.

Sardinian test awaits Il Toro

A tricky test awaits Torino in Sardinia on Sunday when Paolo Vanoli’s side take an an improving Cagliari. Gli Isolani avoided relegation by the skin of their teeth last season and the outlook was looking bleak for them this term when they took only two points from their first five fixtures — four of which were at home.

But a surprise away win at Parma was followed by a creditable 1-1 draw in Juventus’ backyard — results which suggest Cagliari can be tough customers for Torino to dispatch.

Il Toro have won two of their last three away league matches and put up fighting displays in two recent trips to the San Siro, holding on for a 2-2 draw against AC Milan and pushing the champions all the way in a 3-2 defeat.

Visitors may be without some big names

Torino were reduced to 10 men after 20 minutes of that clash with the Nerazzurri and will be without suspended defender Guillermo Maripan for this game.

They also have a couple of injury doubts around striker Duvan Zapata and midfielder Ivan Ilic, who have been ever-present in the league up to now.

So it may be best to look to the goal markets for value and under 2.5 in this game would not be a surprise at all. Fewer than three goals have been scored in five of Cagliari’s seven league games this term. Torino tend to do only what is necessary on their travels and one goal may be enough against a team that has failed to score a goal in three of their four home league games this season.
