Cardiff vs Preston Predictions
- Both teams have not scored in six of the last nine Cardiff City home league games.
- Both teams have not scored in six of Preston’s last eight away Championship contests.
- Preston have kept four clean sheets in their last five away games.
Preston seeking revenge in Principality
Preston have perfected the art of nullifying opponents on the road and they look good value to overcome a Cardiff City side with some mixed home form on Saturday.
The Lilywhites have won four of their last seven away from Deepdale, including at West Brom and Stoke City. So Ryan Lowe’s men will arrive in south Wales full of confidence and with revenge on their minds after suffering an FA Cup third round exit at the hands of the Bluebirds.
Cardiff have turned their overall form around since Steve Morison took over, winning six of their last ten, and arresting a three-game losing sequence at home that lasted from November to mid-January. They have beaten two top-half teams at home this term – Huddersfield and Nottingham Forest – but most of their wins in south Wales have come against the division’s strugglers.
Both teams to score better value than an away win
Preston’s recent away form is only marginally better, but they won at second-placed Bournemouth and eighth-placed Middlesbrough to prove their road capabilities earlier this season. Backing North End not to lose looks a decent play here, given they have avoided defeat in six of their last seven away contests.
But another solid option – at better odds – is to back both teams not to register at the Cardiff City Stadium. Both teams have not scored in six of the last nine Cardiff home league games, nor in six of Preston’s last eight away Championship contests.
Lowe could recall two leading defensive stars for this game after missing Patrick Bauer through injury and suspended Liam Lindsay last weekend. Yet they still stopped a red-hot Bournemouth side from scoring more than once. The duo’s availability feeds into our opinion that Preston are value to keep a clean sheet on Saturday – and secure a third 1-0 away win in four.
