Ceara vs Corinthians Predictions
Thursday’s Brazilian Serie A action sees relegation threatened Ceara and Corinthians doing battle. The hosts will be looking to build on their weekend victory in order to aid their fight against the drop.
After unexpectedly gaining promotion from Serie B last season it was always likely to be a season of struggle for Ceara and so it has proved, with the side currently lying second bottom and 4 points adrift of safety. Nonetheless, Vozão looked dead and buried earlier on in the campaign but are at least now starting to show some fighting spirit that leaves them with an outside chance of saving themselves.
That was certainly present on Sunday, as Ceara picked up a famous 1-0 win in the Maracana against title challengers Flamengo. Leandro Carvalho’s 91st minute winner in that game has spirits running high in Ceara ranks now and with a large crowd expected for Thursday’s match, those that take to the pitch will be gunning for another set of 3 points.
Ceara couldn’t have picked a better time to face Corinthians, who are suffering a miserable campaign. Timao came into the campaign with hopes of retaining their Serie A crown but it’s been downhill from the moment Fabio Carille left and replacement Osmar Loss does not look far away from losing his job.
Out of the Copa Libertadores after a poor defeat to Chileans Colo Colo and some 16 points behind leaders Sao Paulo, Loss’ future largely depends on what his troops come up with in the Copa do Brasil. As such, league matches are not the priority for the visitors at the moment and that’s something apparent, considering they’ve taken just 4 points from their last 5 Serie A outings.
Not only are Corinthians struggling in the league in general at the moment, but their away record has been dreadful for numerous months now and that leaves confidence low ahead of this trip. The side have lost 7 of their last 9 matches on the road and that leaves their prospects looking bleak, to say the least, going into Thursday’s game.
As such, a bet on the Ceara Draw No Bet line looks the perfect way to play and that’s where our money is going. They are by far the more motivated of the two and will likely be buoyed by their weekend win. Having lost just 1 of their last 5 home games, at worst, Ceara shouldn’t lose the game but we can see them running out 1-0 winners, a margin by which all of their victories in Serie A so far this season have come by.
