Can Celta bag another three points?

Celta Vigo are heading for an impressive enough mid-table finish in La Liga, helped largely by a recent strong run on home soil where they have lost just two of their last nine.

Eduardo Coudet’s side certainly lack consistency, but have picked up some impressive victories at Balaidos lately, including a 4-0 drubbing of Alaves last time out, as well as successes over Espanyol and Mallorca.

They have also been reasonably solid against teams in the bottom third of the table, losing just three times to sides in Elche’s position or lower.

Elche safe from the drop

With two games remaining, Elche are six points clear of the bottom three, so their place in La Liga is all but secure – perhaps that is why they have been comfortably beaten by Cadiz and Atletico Madrid in successive outings.

Francisco’s side failed to score in either of those games and come into this clash without a win in three, while also suffering defeats in 10 of their last 16 away fixtures.

They have relatively little to play for and despite wracking up four victories on the road, three of those have come against teams below Celta in the table.

I predict a home win in this one, as Vigo can still push into the top half of the table and are reasonably strong at Balaidos, with 2-0 my correct score prediction.
