Celta Vigo vs Granada Predictions

Granada dealt their survival chances a huge boost by crushing bottom club Levante 5-1 on Thursday night to move out of the drop-zone. They are still only a point clear of 3rd bottom Sporting Gijon though and could be back in the bottom 3 by the time this kicks off. The Andalusian side are in decent form having lost just 1 of their last 6 matches but that win against Levante was their first in 7 attempts so they’d been drawing games rather than winning them prior to that. They’ve lost 8 of their last 10 away games though in all competitions so won’t travel North with a great deal of expectancy.

Celta Vigo are looking for a win to maintain their feint chance of Champions League football next season and they will all but confirm at least their participation in next year’s Europa League if they can win this, which would still be a very creditable achievement. Their form is solid and you have to go back to January for their last league defeat against a side other than Barca or Real Madrid. They are unbeaten in 6 games that have provided 3 wins and 3 draws so will be hopeful of another 3 points here.

Given Granada’s away record they should get them too but an away goal is a real possibility given Celta have the worst defensive record in the top half and given Granada netted 5 just 4 days ago. Granada do concede plenty though and they’ve only kept 1 away clean sheet all season. Therefore a strong Celta Vigo side should have too much for them and backing Celta Vigo to win 2-1 at 15/2 might just be the best approach.
