Celta Vigo vs Las Palmas Predictions
- Both teams have scored in three of Celta Vigo’s last four home league games
- Both teams have scored in four of Las Palmas’ last five away La Liga matches
- Both teams have scored in 12 of the last 13 meetings of these clubs
Giraldez has put Celta on solid course
Celta Vigo are short odds to record a fourth consecutive La Liga home win when they face struggling Las Palmas on Monday night — perhaps too short to back in the circumstances.
Claudio Giraldez has positioned Celta to make a strong push for European competition next season after embarking on a productive run since early February. His side, who battled relegation after making a poor start under Rafa Benitez last season, have been dragged well clear of the drop zone after taking 14 points from the last six games.
Las Palmas are staring relegation full in the face now after taking only three points from their last 10 La Liga games. But they have drawn two of their last three contests and could be capable of springing a surprise in the home city of their coach Diego Martinez.
Both teams can score in Vigo
Both teams to score looks a good play in this clash because Celta have shown a propensity to concede at home, keeping only four clean sheets in 14 league games at Balaidos. Las Palmas have shut out only one away opponent all season, but they have shown a remarkable capacity to get a goal on the road for a struggling side.
The Canarian club have scored in 10 of their 14 away trips, although rarely more than once at a time. The best result they can hope to achieve is probably a 1-1 draw and their ability to secure a point will depend on how many chances Celta miss in the 90 minutes.
However, the Galician side currently have the fourth-best shot conversion rate in La Liga and can run out 2-1 winners here, repeating the scoreline from their last home game against Leganes.
