Cobblers unlikely to trouble Charlton

Take Charlton to beat Northampton at home in League One on Friday. The visitors are struggling to find the back of the net this season and that should hand Nathan Jones’ side the win at The Valley.

Charlton are in fifth place, 14 places above Northampton, with the two sides separated by 29 points. Charlton have won 22, drawn ten and lost ten of their 42 games, while Northampton have won 11, drawn 14 and lost 17.

Charlton beat Cambridge United 1-0 last weekend to bring the hosts’ four-game unbeaten run in League One to an end. Charlton, who justified their price of 3/4 to win the game, had the chances to win by more than the one-goal margin and have now won nine of the 12 matches in which they have been odds-on this season.

They are hitting their stride at home, having gone 13 games without defeat in League One. They have enjoyed success in ten of their last 12 matches at The Valley.

A 2-0 win for Charlton looks the best correct-score bet. They have been strong at home this season, winning 13 of their 21 League One games, while Northampton have won just five times on their travels. Seven of the visitors’ 17 defeats this season have been by a two-goal margin.
