Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Charlton and Reading’s attacking prowess and defensive frailties suggest goals at both ends. Charlton have scored in 10 of 11 home games this season, while Reading have netted in 10 of 12 away. Both teams have scored in 15 of Reading’s 23 matches, making this a strong bet.

Draw 1-1

Reason for tip

Charlton’s improved home form and Reading’s inconsistency on the road point to a balanced contest. With three of Reading’s four draws finishing 1-1 and Charlton showing resilience, this looks a smart play.

Charlton vs Reading Predictions

Expect goals at both ends at The Valley

Both teams have scored in 15 of Reading’s 23 League One games this season and the best bet may well be that both teams score again when they face Charlton at The Valley on Saturday.

Reading are six places above Charlton in the table, but they are only separated by seven points. Reading are fifth with 12 wins, four draws and seven losses, while Charlton are 11th with nine wins, six draws and seven defeats.

Reading have won the last two League One head-to-heads between these sides and beat Cambridge United 3-1 in their most recent away fixture, but Charlton have also been victorious in their last two League One home games.

Both teams have found the net in seven of Charlton’s 11 home games this season and in ten of Reading’s 12 on the road.

Reading are the more prolific side going forward. They have scored two or more goals in 13 of their 23 League One games this season, while Charlton have scored at least twice in three successive league games.

Meanwhile, neither side has been solid at the back.

Charlton have kept one clean sheet in their last six home league games, while Reading are on a run of 14 away days without recording a shutout.

Four of Reading’s last six matches have ended with both sides netting, so backing Charlton and Reading to get on the scoresheet could be the way to go.

There may not be much between the teams at the full-time whistle and, with three of Reading’s four League One draws finishing 1-1, that could be a decent correct-score bet.
