Draw

Reason for tip

Tottenham’s injury crisis has eased recently and their results have improved as a consequence. Spurs have lost only two of their last six Premier League matches and they could have enough to frustrate their London rivals Chelsea, whose only wins in 13 league games came against bottom-five sides.

Draw 1-1

Reason for tip

With both sides out of form, the draw looks a big runner, with goals sure to be on the agenda. Tottenham have netted in four of their last five Premier League away games while both teams to score has been a winning bet in ten of Chelsea’s league home matches this term.

Enzo Fernandez To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Enzo Fernandez found the net during Chelsea’s 4-3 win in the reverse fixture and he is in the right kind of form to repeat that feat on Thursday. The Blues midfielder scored and assisted in Argentina’s 4-1 rout of their rivals Brazil and he can carry that form into this London derby.

Chelsea vs Tottenham Hotspur Predictions

  • Chelsea’s only wins in their last 13 Premier League games came against sides currently in the bottom five
  • Tottenham have improved lately, losing just two of their last six Premier League matches
  • Both teams have scored in ten of the Blues’ 14 league games at Stamford Bridge

Inconsistent pair poised for stalemate

As has been the case for the majority of the season, Tottenham’s last game was one to forget. Ange Postecoglou’s side signed off for the international break with a 2-0 to Fulham and another tricky London derby looms for the inconsistent Lilywhites.

Spurs head to Stamford Bridge on Thursday looking to bounce back from that defeat but there is reason to believe they could get a positive result, as they will not be the only side in the midst of a patchy run taking to the pitch in west London.

Chelsea are still flying high in fourth ahead of this midweek round of fixtures, but their grip on a top-four spot has loosened noticeably since mid-December.

Spurs set to frustrate Blues

The Blues have won just four of their last 13 Premier League games and more worrying is the fact that those victories all came against sides currently in the bottom five, namely West Ham, Wolves, Southampton and Leicester.

Enzo Maresca was often chastised for a lack of a plan b during his time with Leicester and the same issue is beginning to plague him at Chelsea, who have lacked a cutting edge in recent weeks.

With that in mind, quotes of around 3/5 for a Blues win look far too short to consider given their inconsistency and, while Tottenham are equally hard to trust, they have shown improvement since getting key men back from injury.

Spurs’ first-choice centre-backs, Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven, are fit again, and there is also hope that their player of the season, Dejan Kulusevski, will be available for Thursday too.

London derby difficult to call

The Fulham defeat aside, Tottenham’s Premier League results have been promising of late. Wins over Manchester United, Ipswich and Brentford showed them at their best, a draw with a strong Bournemouth side was a step in the right direction and a 1-0 defeat to Manchester City proved they can be solid at the back on occasion.

Neither of these London rivals are in stellar form, so it is a surprise to see Chelsea so much shorter in the market and the big odds available for a draw could instead be the smartest punting play.

Goals should be on the agenda, given the talent in each camp plus the fact both teams to score has been a winning bet in ten of the Blues’ 14 Premier League home games this term.

Enzo Fernandez, fresh off his goal in Argentina’s 4-1 rout of rivals Brazil, is fancied to get one of those. The Chelsea midfielder is in great form and can net against Spurs for the second time this season.
