      Cheltenham vs Cambridge United Predictions

The League Two season so far has produced plenty of action, but even though we are entering the latter stages of the campaign, there promises to be plenty of twists and turns still to come. This Tuesday in League Two sees a Cheltenham Town side who are hoping they can secure their survival with the minimum of fuss take on a Cambridge United side who go into this clash as one of the form sides in the division at the moment.

Cheltenham Town go into this fixture after suffering back to back defeats and knowing that, despite a six point cushion over the drop zone, their survival is still far from secured. The hosts faced off against Grimsby Town at the weekend but fell behind to a first half Wesley Thomas penalty and were never able to get back on level terms. That result followed on from a 3-0 defeat on the road against Colchester United, and with no goals scored in their last two outings, they know that they will have to improve their offensive output if they are to accomplish their goals.

Cambridge United have made good progress since the turn of the year but remain far from safe and they sit just a single point ahead of their hosts. The U’s go into this match in good shape, however, and although they only managed to draw with Tranmere at the weekend, they have managed four wins in their last six outings and have put some much needed daylight between themselves and the drop zone. However, like their hosts they have struggled in front of goal for much of the campaign and the 29 goals they have scored this season represents the second worst offensive record in the division.

It is a big game towards the bottom of the table and we think that both sides will know the importance of earning three points. With this in mind, we think that it could be a pretty tight match and given that neither side is known for being particularly effective in front of goal, we think that backing there to be less than 2.5 goals scored represents the best chance of a decent return.
