Chile vs Peru Predictions

• Peru beat Chile in each of the teams’ last two meetings.
• Chile won just one of their last eight fixtures.

Peru to avoid defeat?

Both Chile and Peru are winless after two rounds of fixtures in South America’s World Cup qualification section ahead of their clash in Santiago on Friday.

The Chileans suffered last gasp disappointment in each of their opening pair of games, when they were denied a point by a 90^th minute Uruguay winner on match day one, before an injury time Radamel Falcao equalizer denied them a win at home to Colombia on match day two.

Peru picked up a useful point in their first outing in a 2-2 draw with Paraguay, before falling to a 4-2 reverse in an ill-tempered defeat at home to Brazil in their most recent test.

The Peruvians –who have a superb recent record against Chile- could bounce straight back on Friday however. La Blanquirroja won each of their last two encounters with the Chileans 3-0, the second of which saw Peru eliminate La Roja from the semi-finals of the Copa America in the summer of 2019.

Things haven’t gone all that swimmingly for Peru since, though Chile have been just as unreliable since last year’s tournament, winning just once in seven games since their surprise exit.

On home soil, Chile are without a victory in three attempts, and we think Peru – who have already shown an aptitude for conquering their hosts – look superb value in the double chance market this week, while a 2-2 draw is advised for our correct score prediction.

Peru’s last away contest in Paraguay finished level at 2-2, while Chile saw at least two goals plundered at either end in each of their last two matches at home. The factors at play suggest another entertaining tussle could develop again in Santiago on Friday.
