Club Brugge vs Manchester United Predictions
- Club Brugge qualified for this game after finishing third in Group A of the Champions League.
- Manchester United won Group L of the Europa League to qualify for the knockout stages.
- Club Brugge scored just four goals in their disappointing Champions League campaign.
- Manchester United won their group after scoring 10 goals and conceding just two.
Can Club Brugge make their home advantage count?
Club Brugge have enjoyed a superb domestic season that has seen them lead the Belgian Pro League for the vast majority of the campaign. They currently hold a nine-point lead at the top but their form has not extended to European competition, where the side picked up just three points in Group A of the Champions League.
The side can consider themselves a little unlucky after being drawn into their group with PSG and Real Madrid, but they were unable to make any impact on the competition and have dropped into the Europa League as a result. They scored just four goals in their six games and conceded an average of two goals a game.
Can Manchester United take an edge into the second leg?
Much has been said of Manchester United’s below-par performances and results in England this season but in the Europa League they’ve performed very well, winning Group L with 13 points and losing just once in a match where they had already qualified for the knockout stages.
They scored 10 goals in the group stages, with Mason Greenwood netting four of them in his breakout season. But their true highlight was conceding just two times in six matches, both of those coming in their 2-1 loss in Astana.
The team kept five clean sheets in their matches and have marked themselves as one of the teams to beat this season.
Which side heads to Manchester with one foot in the next round?
This game looks as though it could be fairly tight and low scoring with neither team dazzling against quality opposition this season. But we think Manchester United have just about enough of an edge to pick up the victory here. They’ve got enough quality in attack to warrant winning this match and we’re backing them in the full-time market.
There shouldn’t be many goals, however, with Brugge struggling for goals in Europe this season, while Manchester United will be missing their main goalscoring threat in Marcus Rashford. We think this will be settled by a single goal and are backing Manchester United to come away 1-0 winners.
