Coventry and Both Teams To Score

      Reason for tip

Coventry had won four home matches in a row prior to Saturday’s loss to Burnley but they can return to winning ways against poor travellers Portsmouth, although the visitors should contribute to the scoring as they have netted in five of their last six on the road.

      Coventry 3-1

      Reason for tip

Coventry have netted three goals in recent home wins over Stoke and Sunderland and they can repeat that trick against the Championship’s leakiest away defence. However, one clean-sheet in eight means the Sky Blues are also liable to concede, bringing the 3-1 correct score into play.

      Coventry vs Portsmouth Predictions

      • Coventry have won four of their last five home fixtures
      • Portsmouth have lost 11 of their last 12 away matches
      • Pompey have conceded the most away goals in this season’s Championship (45)

Sky Blues to get play-off push back on track

Coventry’s Championship play-off push has taken a hit over recent weeks following a run of three defeats in four, but two of those losses came against automatic promotion contenders Sheffield United and Burnley.

Saturday’s 2-1 loss to the Clarets saw Frank Lampard’s side slip out of the top six but they will be confident of getting back on track when Portsmouth visit the Coventry Building Society Arena.

The Sky Blues certainly have a good record on home soil, as prior to their loss to Burnley they had won four on the bounce on their own patch, and they will be taking on a Portsmouth side that are one of the poorest on the road in the division.

      Pompey’s away-day struggles to continue

Only bottom of the table Plymouth have collected fewer away points in the Championship this season than Portsmouth, with just 10 of Pompey’s 45 having been earned away from their Fratton Park home.

Saturday’s 2-1 loss at Millwall made it 11 defeats in 12 on the road for John Mousinho’s side, although they have now scored in five of their last six away fixtures.

It is just one clean-sheet in eight for Coventry so Pompey can continue their goalscoring efforts this midweek, but with the leakiest away defence in the division, they will struggle to repel their hosts at the other end.

Coventry have scored three goals in recent home victories over Stoke and Sunderland and a 3-1 home success on Wednesday appeals in the correct-score market.
