Croatia vs Malta Predictions
- Both of Croatia’s opening games in Group H have produced just one goal.
- Zlatko Dalic’s men were beaten 1-0 by Slovenia in their first match, before an unconvincing 1-0 success over Cyprus at the weekend.
- Malta secured one of their best ever results with a 2-2 draw away to Slovakia on Saturday.
- Four of the visitors’ last 12 qualifiers, stretching back to the Euro 2020 campaign, have produced under 2.5 goals.
Croatia to edge low scoring clash
Croatia have made an unconvincing start to their Group H campaign and Zlatko Dalic’s charges could be frustrated in Rijeka by a Malta side who excelled themselves in Slovakia at the weekend.
Recent evidence suggests that the Croats are on the downgrade and while they bounced back from their opening game defeat to Slovenia (1-0) on Saturday, their narrow 1-0 victory here against Cyprus wasn’t much of an improvement.
Malta may have felt disappointment with their weekend draw against Slovakia considering they unexpectedly went two goals up in Trnava, though the final 2-2 score-line still represents one of the minnows’ best ever results.
It will be extremely tough for Malta to replicate that effort this Tuesday, but they are capable of causing problems and keeping the score down against better sides.
Four of their ten Euro 2020 Qualifiers produced less than three goals, so with the Croats failing to fire and involved in two uneventful matches themselves so far in Group H, we’re tipping up under 2.5 goals in this one alongside a 2-0 correct score in favour of the hosts.
