Crystal Palace vs Fulham Predictions
- Fulham won against Brentford on Monday following a string of good displays
- Crystal Palace have won just once in their 10 matches this season
- The Eagles have won just two of their last eight home meetings with Fulham
Late comeback boosts Cottagers
Fulham ended a three-game run without a victory after Harry Wilson’s late heroics on Monday night. The Cottagers had been trailing 1-0 at home to Brentford, but Wilson made a crucial impact off the bench to score twice late on and deliver all three points for Marco Silva’s side.
Fulham had done well in defeats against Man City and Aston Villa, while they were moments away from claiming a 1-0 win at Goodison Park at the end of last month. It’s been a solid campaign overall for Silva’s team and they can continue that against a Palace outfit who are sitting in 17th place.
Palace look vulnerable
The Eagles have had a disappointing season after their flourish at the end of the previous campaign. Palace have managed just one win in 10 games this term, losing five of those matches. The hosts are also the second-lowest scorers in the division, with their eight-goal haul just one above a blunt Southampton side.
Palace have already dropped points at home to West Ham and Leicester this season, while they’ve not beaten Fulham at home since 2019. While their results have improved over the last couple of weeks, the Eagles still look vulnerable against a Fulham side that is performing at a good level.
Fulham to take the points
Fulham have just one win on the road this season, but their performances have deserved more. They’ve won on Expected Goals across each of their last four league trips, including a 1-0 victory at high-flying Nottingham Forest. The Cottagers won the xG battle 2.6 to 1.6 away to Man City in a season where their underlying numbers have been great.
Silva’s men have had the higher xG in each of their last nine league games and that level of performance should pay off against a side who are narrowly outside the drop zone.
Expect the Cottagers’ defensive record to improve here, as they’ve conceded less than 1.0 xG in three of their last five matches. They also shipped just 1.6 xG to Man City and Aston Villa – two Champions League sides. They can shut out a Palace side who have created 1.0 xG or less in five of their last six matches.
