Crystal Palace vs Ipswich Predictions
- Crystal Palace have won nine of their last 12 games
- Over 2.5 goals has landed in six of the Eagles’ last seven home games in the Premier League
- Both teams have scored in Ipswich’s last seven matches in all competitions
Tractor Boys target relegation zone escape
Just when it seemed Ipswich’s season could not get any worse, they suffered a penalty shootout defeat against Nottingham Forest last weekend in the FA Cup that also saw a number of their players limp off injured.
They remain five points from safety but their form has taken a nose dive in recent weeks and they face a tough challenge as they visit Crystal Palace, a team who are firmly on the up.
Ipswich have now taken just one point from the last 21 available in the Premier League and while they showed more against Forest, that defeat could have knocked the stuffing out of Kieran McKenna’s side.
After keeping things tight at the back for much of the campaign in comparison with their fellow promoted sides, the floodgates have opened recently and the visitors have conceded 22 times in their last seven league outings.
Two wins in Wolves’ last four matches has made their chances of staying up even more remote and they are in danger of becoming one of many teams who have come up from the Championship and shown a few flashes of excellence before dropping back down to the second tier.
Eagles on the up
The Tractor Boys face a tough challenge in this clash too as they visit a Crystal Palace side who have been going in the right direction since the start of the year.
Since a 0-0 draw with Bournemouth on Boxing Day, the Eagles have won nine of their last 12 games in all competitions, including victories over Aston Villa, Manchester United and Fulham.
A head injury to Jean Philippe Mateta slightly overshadowed their 3-1 FA Cup win over rivals Millwall last weekend but they should still be able to flourish without their star striker.
After a nightmare start to the season, Oliver Glasner’s side now have a top-half finish within their reach and should be able to secure a victory over this injury-hit Ipswich side.
Nketiah can prove himself
The visitors have as many as nine first-team players set to miss this clash including key attackers such as Julio Enciso, Sammie Szmodics and Omari Hutchinson.
Both teams have scored in Ipswich’s last seven games however so they can get on the scoresheet, albeit in a 3-1 defeat.
With Mateta out, Eddie Nketiah looks set to lead the line and he could snatch at his opportunity. The former Arsenal man has four goals in nine starts for Palace and is fancied to get on the scoresheet.
