Crystal Palace vs Manchester United Predictions
The normally defensively sound Crystal Palace crumbled on Wednesday as Manchester City thrashed them 5-1 to send them crashing out of the Capital One Cup.
This was their 3rd defeat on the trot, with West Ham snatching a 3-1 win over them before Leicester pipped them to the post last weekend.
Before this run they were looking like a really good team, but back to back Premier League defeats has seen a bit of a gap open up between them and the top five in the league. They now sit in 7th position with 15 points from their opening ten games.
Manchester United’s penalty shootout exit to Middlesbrough on Wednesday made it three games without a win for them as well.
They came back from Moscow with a single point after a 1-1 draw against CSKA, and then we had to endure a lifeless Manchester derby as the two giants played out a goalless draw. It was goalless again on Wednesday.
This let West Ham overtake them in the Premier League, and their 20 point tally leaves them in 4th position now, although they are only two points off leaders Manchester City.
Manchester United have claimed the three points in all of the last four meetings between these sides, and I will be expecting another win for them on Saturday as well.
But with both sides desperate to get back to winning ways I would expect Crystal Palace to make a real go of winning the game rather than sitting back and trying to shut the visitors out.
For this reason I think both sides will get on the scoresheet, and when you combine this with a Manchester United win you get incredible odds of 7/2. That’s where my money is going, along with some on a 2-1 correct scoreline at 17/2.
