Crystal Palace To Win To Nil

Reason for tip

Palace have lost just three of their last 12 matches in all competitions, and should be too strong on home soil for a Saints side who have won just one Premier League fixture this term. Southampton are adrift at the bottom of the table and have scored just 11 goals in 18 league matches this term.

Crystal Palace 2-0

Reason for tip

Palace have scored more than once in only three home matches this season, and only one of those occasions saw them bag more than twice. Southampton have failed to score in four of their last five matches and may struggle to break down an improving Seagulls defence who recorded a shutout away to highflying Bournemouth last time out.

Ismaila Sarr To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Ismaila Sarr bagged Palace’s only goal in the recent home loss to Arsenal but he has scored four goals in his last eight outings for the south London side and the pacey winger could plenty of opportunities to increase his scoring tally against the struggling Saints.

Crystal Palace vs Southampton Predictions

  • Southampton have just one of their 18 Premier League fixtures this term
  • Crystal Palace have won their last two league meetings with Southampton without conceding
  • Saints have scored just 11 goals in 18 Premier League matches this season

No faith in sorry Saints to score

Southampton have been cut adrift at the bottom of the Premier League and they are unlikely to improve their situation on their trip to south London this Sunday.

The sorry Saints already look set to be relegated and only something close to a miracle can save them from another exit from the top flight, but we predict another afternoon of misery the south-coast club.

Lying in wait is a Crystal Palace side who have steadily improved following their slow start to the campaign and it is just one defeat in seven league matches for Oliver Glasner’s side who have found only Arsenal too strong in that sequence.

A 0-0 draw at highflying Bournemouth on Boxing Day was an impressive result, as was their away win at Brighton and home draws with Manchester City and Newcastle prior to that.

And there could be more to come from the Eagles, who should see off the Saints with a minimum of fuss and we predict a home win to nil at Selhurst Park.

Seagulls lifting themselves higher

Crystal Palace are up to 16th place in the Premier League and they could start to make in-roads on the mid-table positions with a couple more positive results, and they should get a win here against a side who they have dominated in recent times.

The last two meetings between these sides in the league have gone to Palace and on both occasions they won without conceding.

Another comfortable victory is predicted in this latest clash but a modest 2-0 outcome looks the best bet for correct score punters.

That was the result when these two last locked horns in April 2023, and it was 1-0 to Palace in the fixture prior to that.

More than two goals for the Selhurst side looks a stretch as they have met that tally on only three occasions and only once did they score more than two goals.

Sarr can star once more

Palace were hammered 5-1 by Arsenal last time out on home soil but their goalscorer on that occasions was Ismaila Sarr and he is our prediction for an anytime goalscorer bet in this encounter.

The Senegal forward has often shown an eye for goal during his spells at Watford and Rennes and  he looks to be settling into his role at Crystal Palace following his move in August.

Sarr has bagged five goals for the Eagles this season with four of those coming in his last seven outings for the south London side.

He could get opportunities to increase his tally on Sunday and he looks a value bet to bag against the struggling Saints who have kept a clean sheet in just one of their last nine matches.
