Dundee United vs Celtic Predictions
- Celtic have won 20 of their last 26 meetings with Dundee United
- The Tangerines have lost by scores of 2-0, 9-0, 3-0 and 3-0 in four of their last six home games against Celtic
- Brendan Rodgers’ side have covered a -1 handicap in six of their eight away Premiership matches this term
Rodgers heads to Tannadice for first time
Dundee United will face a stern test when they host league leaders Celtic at Tannadice Park on Sunday afternoon.
It will be the first time Brendan Rodgers has managed a team against the Tangerines but he will know that the Hoops have dominated this fixture historically, winning 20 of the last 26 meetings between the sides and losing only once in that span.
The Tannadice outfit have been able to find the back of the net on a regular basis this season, but a leaky backline cost them in last weekend’s 4-3 defeat to Motherwell.
Celtic can exploit Tangerines’ defensive lapses
Celtic are in the sort of mood to exploit dodgy defences, having scored three against Rangers in last weekend’s Scottish League Cup Final at Hampden and another three at home to Hibernian the week before.
The Bhoys have kept clean sheets in 75% of their away games this season, conceding an average of just 0.26 goals per match on the road, but it is difficult to recommend a Celtic win to nil here given how potent the Tangerines have been at home.
Jim Goodwin’s side have scored in seven of their eight home Premiership games and managed multiple strikes in five of them. Celtic can still rack up enough goals in this clash to cover the -1 handicap, which they have done in six of their eight away league games this term and a 3-1 result is the preferred correct score play.
