Ecuador vs Peru Betting Tips & Predictions

Ecuador put in a very good shift in their Copa America opening game as they earned a point against a lacklustre Brazil side. In all honest the Ecuadorians were unfortunate not to take all three points as a second half goal was incorrectly ruled out after the linesman thought the ball had gone out of play.

However, a goalless draw against the group favourites is a good result and they have managed to make it through the biggest test of the group stages unscathed. Now they will turn their attentions towards winning against Peru and Haiti and possibly topping the group.

Wins aren’t coming that easily for Ecuador though. They have drawn two and lost two of their last four games, which put a bit of a dampener on their build up to the Copa America after their six match winning streak prior to this winless run of games.

Ecuador’s good run of form has managed to put them in a good position in their World Cup qualifying group though. They sit in 2nd position, level on points with Uruguay above them and two points ahead of Argentina. They will feel confident about their chances of beating Peru and Haiti as well, because their winless streak has included some tough matches such as Brazil, Colombia, United States, and Paraguay.

Peru come into the 2nd game of the Copa America group stages at the top of their group after beating Haiti 1-0. They weren’t the best going forward in this match but their lethal front man Paolo Guerrero found the winner to continue his reign of being Peru’s main striker. The 32 year old will now be hoping to do the same against Ecuador.

Peru are a good defensive outfit and were rarely troubled by the toothless Haiti, but they will find it more difficult against the talents of Antonio Valencia, Enner Valencia, and Jefferson Montero on Thursday.

I think Ecuador have enough talent to get past the Peru defence, and I can’t see Peru getting too many goals with Guerrero being their only real danger man. Ecuador have beaten the likes of Mexico, Argentina, and Uruguay recently and they looked good against Brazil, so I’m backing them to get a win at 5/6 alongside a 2-1 correct score prediction at 17/2.
