Elfsborg to Win

Reason for tip

Elfsborg have won six games in a row and have beaten AIK 6-1 and third-placed Mjallby 3-1 in recent weeks. Djurgarden are in also in decent form, but none of their results are at the level of those scalps by the hosts and they could struggle in Boras.

Elfsborg 2-0

Reason for tip

The hosts have won seven matches in a row at home and given four of those victories came to nil, it could pay to back them to record a shutout as they beat Djurgarden on Sunday. Two of those wins came via a 2-0 scoreline and given the visitors are flying high in second, it seems unlikely Elfsborg will net any more than two.

Elfsborg vs Djurgarden Predictions

  • Both teams have scored in Djurgarden’s last four away matches
  • Elfsborg are on a six-match winning run, in which they have netted 22 goals
  • The hosts have won seven on the spin at home, winning to nil four times in that run

European exploits will leave both sides motivated

Both Elfsborg and Djuragarden enjoyed wins in Europe in the week and each will be keen to use that momentum to gain an important domestic win on Sunday.

The former beat Sheriff Tiraspol 1-0 in the second round of Europa League qualifying on Thursday while the latter cruised to a 3-0 victory over Luxembourg minnows Progres Niederkorn on the same day.

In the Allsvenskan, both are enjoying solid seasons. Elfsborg are fourth, but are just four points off Djurgarden in second and will be keen to close that gap to a singular point by landing the win on Sunday.

Elfsborg expected to edge clash

The stats suggest the hosts have a great chance too, given they are on a fantastic run of form. Elfsborg have won six games in a row, netting an impressive 22 goals in the process, and they are arguably even stronger at home having won seven on the spin at the Boras Arena, with a 6-1 thrashing of domestic giants AIK the highlight in that run.

Djurgarden are in decent nick themselves, winning eight of their last 11 games, but nothing in their form matches the Yellow Ones’ rout of AIK or even their 3-1 win over third-placed Mjallby last time out.

Home advantage could prove pivotal too as the visitors were beaten 2-1 by relegation-threatened Kalmar in their last away game, suggesting the points will remain in Boras on Sunday as Elfsborg look set to gain an important win.
