Roma bidding for another trophy charge

AS Roma have had a few deep runs in this competition in recent years, reaching the final in 2022/23 and the semis in 2023/24 and they will be looking to challenge once against this year.

They looked set to get this season’s competition off to a perfect start, but an 85th-minute equaliser from Athletic Bilbao meant they had to settle for a draw.

They should expect to come away with all three points against Swedish side Elfsborg, who lost 3-2 to Dutch side AZ, but were very much dominated from the off.

Summer-signing Artem Dovbyk has enjoyed a good start in his first season for Roma, finding the net in three of his last four games. He will likely be involved again and Elfsborg may struggle to stop 27-year-old.  Don’t be surprised if he bags a couple and help Roma to a 3-0 win here.
