Juventus 1-0

Reason for tip

Juventus have not conceded a goal yet in three Serie A games this season and that trend may continue against an Empoli side that drew their only home league game this term 0-0. Juve have quality in forward areas, but may lack a bit of creativity in midfield, so a 1-0 scoreline might be the best they can achieve against solid opponents.

Empoli vs Juventus Predictions

  • Fewer than three goals have been scored in two of Empoli’s three league matches under Roberto D’Aversa
  • Fewer than three goals have been scored in each of the last two meetings of the clubs
  • Juventus have not conceded a goal yet in three Serie A games this season

Empoli aim to build on solid start

Goals could be in short supply when Empoli entertain Juventus in Serie A on Saturday evening. Azzurri Empolesi have started the season well under new coach Roberto D’Aversa, claiming a shock win at Roma between draws against Monza and Bologna.

D’Aversa, who serves the final match of his touchline ban, is without attacker Jacopo Fazzini. He joins the already injured Tyronne Ebuhei, Szymon Zurkowski, Samuele Perisan and Luca Belardinelli on the sidelines.

Empoli operate a 3-4-2-1 system with two number 10s floating about between the defensive lines and it caused Roma all kinds of problems in their recent 2-1 win at the Olimpico.

Motta may find an answer

Thiago Motta has had plenty of time to study it and should have some solutions at hand when his Juve side take to the field at Stadio Carlo Castellani. The Bianconeri have not conceded in the league this season, beating both Como and Verona 3-0 before being held to a goalless draw by Roma.

Motta’s team look a bit short on creativity in the middle of the park without Adrien Rabiot, although Teun Koopmeiners and Douglas Luiz are rumoured to be ready to start this clash.

It’s hard to see where the goals will come from for both sides really with Juve potentially able to get over the line in a 1-0 victory if Empoli eventually crack under pressure.
