England vs Andorra Predictions
- England scored four goals without reply against Hungary in midweek.
- England have conceded just two goals in their last 10 games.
- Andorra have lost their last four away games, conceding 15 goals and scoring just once in the process.
England set to make changes for Andorra assignment
England take on minnows Andorra at Wembley on Sunday and after a comfortable midweek win over Hungary this looks like an ideal opportunity for boss Gareth Southgate to rotate his squad.
Southgate made three changes in Budapest as England claimed a 4-0 win, and all of those substitutions came in the final six minutes. That suggests the manager is planning plenty of changes on Sunday and most of those who started against Hungary are likely to drop to the bench.
Andorra did pick up their first points of their own World Cup qualification campaign with a 2-0 win over San Marino in midweek, but we’re not expecting them to cause the Three Lions any problems whatsoever this weekend.
Expect a big England win
Southgate may be set to leave his regular starters, and scorers, on the bench but even an experimental England side should be far too strong for the Andorrans. The majority of the Andorra squad play their club football in their homeland, with a few players in the lower leagues in Spain and one, somewhat surprisingly, in Norway.
This is a huge mismatch and as such I can only see a big win for England here. The Three Lions put four past a good Hungary team in midweek they should be able to better that in front of their home fans at Wembley, so an England win with a -4 handicap is my main tip in this match-up. The visitors will line-up to defend and contain England for as long as they can, but with players coming into the side looking to stake a claim for a starting spot Southgate’s men should be able to put Andorra to the sword.
England overcame San Marino 5-0 earlier in qualifying and with home advantage they could be in line for another huge win, with a 6-0 win for England is my correct score selection.
A Saka goal has potential
Bukayo Saka was one of the players introduced late on in Hungary and I’m expecting the Arsenal youngster to be handed a start on Sunday. Saka will almost certainly receive a massive reception from the home crowd and even though he doesn’t have the best scoring record he looks a contender to grab a goal against Andorra.
Saka has one goal in four appearances for the Gunners this season, which came in an EFL Cup win over West Brom. England are likely to create plenty of chances on Sunday there should be a few players who get among the goals – and Saka may well be one of them. Patrick Bamford appears in line for a debut but there isn’t really any value in backing an anytime goal from the Leeds forward, while Jesse Lingard also deserves a mention but Saka is a bigger price and can record his second senior international strike against Andorra.
