England vs Latvia Predictions
- England held Albania to 0.06 xG in their opening qualifier
- Latvia lost 5-0 at Croatia and 4-0 at Turkey in their previous campaign
- The Three Lions scored 14 times across their four Euro 2024 qualifiers, conceding only to Italy
- Bellingham led all players with nine touches in the box last time out
Room for improvement for Tuchel
England claimed a 2-0 victory over Albania in Thomas Tuchel’s first game in charge and the Three Lions are heavy favourites to make it two wins from two when they host Latvia.
The visitors have already matched the three points they won in Euro 2024 qualifying thanks to their 1-0 victory at Andorra last week. However, they allowed the minnows to have seven shots on goal and they face a backs-to-the-wall job at Wembley.
Albania barely had a sniff of goal in Tuchel’s debut, posting just 0.06 Expected Goals. The Three Lions had just shy of 74% of the ball, but they’ll have been disappointed to have not won by a clearer margin.
Latvia are a much weaker side and this contest is likely to be much more one-sided. The visitors wrapped up their previous qualifying campaign with a 5-0 loss at Croatia and a 4-0 defeat in Turkey, scoring just once on their travels in total.
England have rattled off three consecutive wins to nil, including a 3-0 victory in Greece and a 5-0 win over the Republic of Ireland. The Three Lions scored 14 times across their home matches on the way to Euro 2024, with only Italy managing to score against them.
It’s tough to get a good angle here given England are so heavily odds-on, but over 2.5 goals and BTTS no is the standout. This is effectively backing another clean sheet for the hosts and three or more goals, which seems like a decent prospect following a solid start by Tuchel.
This clash should offer Jude Bellingham the chance to change the fact that he’s yet to score a goal in qualifying, despite netting at the previous two tournaments. The Real Madrid man had nine touches in the opposition box against Albania, taking three shots and posting an xG of 0.43. Despite those promising numbers, he’s odds-against to score against a weaker opponent.
