There have not been a lot of goals in Espanyol’s recent games and under 2.5 goals looks like the bet when they host Athletic Bilbao on Sunday at Power8 Stadium. 

Seven of the last nine of Espanyol’s Primera Liga games have gone under 2.5 goals and six of the last eight times that Athletic Bilbao have visited in the league have produced under 2.5 goals.

Athletic Bilbao are fourth in the league, 12 places above Espanyol, with 12 wins, eight draws and three losses. The hosts have won six and lost 12 of their 23 games this season.

Athletic Bilbao have beaten Espanyol in three of the last four Primera Liga meetings between the sides, but Espanyol have won their last two home games, including a 1-0 victory over Real Madrid two weeks ago.

Espanyol have conceded in 18 of their last 20 league games, but they kept a clean sheet two weeks ago against leaders Real Madrid and Athletic Bilbao have been impressive defensively this season, conceding just 20 goals in 23 games.

Two of Espanyol’s five draws in the Primera Liga so far this season have been goalless and a 0-0 draw is not an unlikely correct-score option here.
