Sweden 2-0

Reason for tip

Sweden have won their last five games against Estonia to nil, a run that includes a 5-0 and 3-0 success, but given Estonia beat Azerbaijan last time out, this may be a tighter contest and a 2-0 away victory is expected.

Estonia vs Sweden Predictions

  • Sweden are unbeaten in their 20 previous meetings with Estonia, winning 18 of those
  • The last five clashes between the pair have ended in Swedish victories to nil
  • The Swede’s won last month’s reverse clash 3-0 in Solna

Sweden to take frustration out on hosts

Sweden have taken seven points from their opening three games in this season’s Nations League, but they will feel they should have a maximum return after surrendering a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 with Slovakia on Friday.

Jon Dahl Tomasson will be keen for his side to take their frustration of that result out on an Estonia team they have a strong record against, as they are unbeaten in 20 previous meetings with the Blueshirts, winning 18 of those.

Each of the last five clashes between the two sides have ended in a victory to nil for the Swedes, including last month’s reverse fixture in Solna which the hosts won 3-0.

The gap too big for Estonia to breach

Estonia will head into this game buoyed by Friday’s 3-1 win over Azerbaijan, but this will be a much tougher test for Jurgen Henn’s side against a team that sit 94 places above them in the FIFA rankings.

As well as beating the Estonians last month, Sweden claimed home and away successes when the two teams met in qualifying for the last Euros, including a 5-0 demolition on their last visit to Tallinn.

Monday’s scoreline should not be so emphatic given Estonia are heading into the game on the back of a win, but Sweden should be able to replicate the 2-0 success they recorded when the sides met in Stockholm last November.
