Everton 2-0

Reason for tip

The Toffees’ superior ability should come to the fore eventually but they have scored more than twice in just two games this season, so they could claim a 2-0 victory

Everton vs Peterborough United Predictions

  • Peterborough have won just one of their last ten away matches
  • Just two of Everton’s last 13 games have featured more than two goals
  • The Toffees have netted in just two of their last ten matches

Toffees struggling for goals

It is beginning to look as if Everton are going to become embroiled in a Premier League relegation battle once again and a FA Cup date with League One Peterborough may be viewed as a bit of a hindrance.

The Toffees will not want to start life in their new stadium in the Championship, but they have failed to score in eight of their last ten matches, so it seems unrealistic to expect them to run riot even against a team with the worst defensive record in the third tier.

Sean Dyche’s side have won just one of their last five FA Cup fixtures and it is telling that they have scored more than twice in just two games this season, so goals could be at a premium.

Posh will look to keep things tight

Keeping the opposition out has been an issue for Peterborough all season and they have conceded 46 goals in 24 League One matches.

They head to Goodison at a terrible time, having collected just one point in their last five games, which came in a draw at bottom-of-the-table Burton.

Damage limitation could be the name of the game and that could help them put in a strong defensive performance, but it looks likely that the Toffees’ top-flight ability will eventually tell and a 2-0 home win may be attractive to those looking for a correct-score interest.
