Goals in short supply at Exeter

Friday’s League One clash between Exeter and Burton at St James Park is unlikely to produce many goals. The last game between these sides had three goals but the two League One meetings last season had fewer than three goals and, prior to that, the previous four all stayed under 2.5 goals.

Both teams have lost more games than they’ve won this season, but Exeter are five places above Burton in the table with a ten-point advantage. The hosts, who have won 14 and lost 18 of their 42 games, sit 15th, while the visitors are 20th with ten wins and 19 defeats.

Exeter’s recent League One results have been a mixed bag, with two wins, two draws and two defeats in their last six outings. They last won at home three games ago. Burton were 3-0 winners against Huddersfield last weekend, but have lost three of their last four away games in the league as they fight for survival.

It could be hard to separate these two sides, with the 1-1 draw looking like a decent correct-score bet. Burton’s last two League One draws have both ended 1-1 and unders has been a winning bet in four of the last five games between these sides.
