FC Cartagena vs Girona Predictions

Girona can grind out eighth consecutive win

FC Cartagena are in decent form after four wins from six, but the Murcia outfit have it all to do on the final day of the season against a Girona side who have won their last seven Segunda starts.

A run of five wins, four draws and just one defeat from ten since late March guaranteed Cartagena’s second tier status for another term, though with safety secured, there was a distinct drop off from Luis Carrion’s charges when they lost 2-1 at strugglers Lugo on Monday.

We could well see more of the same from them this Sunday with nothing on the line, and Girona have to be sided with as they look to keep momentum flowing ahead of the Play-Offs.

Blanquivermells made it seven wins from seven with their 1-0 Monday victory over Alcorcon and are likely to be installed as promotion favourites when the end of season shoot-out gets underway in a few days’ time.

We have to respect the fact that Cartagena are unbeaten in nine at home (W5, D4), but Girona were 2-1 winners in October’s reverse fixture and should confirm their superiority again here.

22 points separate the clubs in the Segunda standings going into the final day and Girona are the obvious shout in the draw no bet market, while we’re also backing the visitors to post an eighth consecutive victory via 0-1 score-line, which has been the outcome in five of their last seven matches.
