Chelsea to Win and Over 2.5 Match Goals

Reason for tip

Chelsea have won all six of their matches in the Conference League proper this season and are averaging over four goals per game. However, defensive deficiencies remain and that could lead to an open game against FC Copenhagen, although one that the Blues should still win.

Chelsea 2-1

Reason for tip

FC Copenhagen’s only home defeats this season have come in the Conference League and both of those games finished 2-1. With Chelsea likely to win this match but perhaps lacking in defensive strength, a repeat of that scoreline could be on the cards.

FC Copenhagen vs Chelsea Predictions

  • Chelsea won all six of their league phase matches, scoring 26 goals in the process
  • The Blues conceded in four of their six league phase games
  • Both of Copenhagen’s home defeats this season have come in the Conference League

Blues should overpower Copenhagen

Chelsea are the firm favourites to win the Conference League this season and they should take another step towards that goal by claiming victory in the first leg of their round of 16 tie away to Danish giants FC Copenhagen.

Enzo Maresca’s side are yet to put a foot wrong in the competition proper, winning all six of their league phase matches and running in an eye-watering 26 goals in the process.

With Cole Palmer having now been added to their squad for the knockout stages, the Blues will arguably possess even more attacking firepower, although question marks remain regarding their defensive strength, as they conceded in four of their six matches during the league phase.

Hosts can keep it competitive

Given the strength and resources available to Chelsea, they should win this game, but it may not be easy against Danish Superliga leaders Copenhagen, who are yet to lose a domestic home match this season.

However, Jacob Neestrup’s side have been beaten twice on home soil in the Conference League, against Jagiellonia Bialystok in the league phase and Heidenheim in the knockout phase play-offs.

Both of those games finished in 2-1 losses for Copenhagen and a repeat score could be on the cards on Thursday, as Chelsea aim to put one foot in the quarter-finals.
