      FC Porto vs Nacional Predictions

Porto’s lead at the top of the Primeira Liga remains at five points following the last round of fixtures, and the title favourites play last this week when they face Nacional on Monday night. the visitors beat Guimaraes in midweek, but know they face a much tougher task away at Porto on Monday.

Despite dominating the majority of the match, Porto didn’t create as many goal scoring opportunities against Aves on Thursday and yet they still managed to claim all three points. The sign of true champions is often to pick up three points even when you don’t play well, and that appeared to be the case for Porto as a twenty-fifth minute goal from Éder Militão proved enough to win the game. Porto had 57% of the overall possession, but only managed four corners and three shots on target during the ninety minutes, with Aves having more shots in the match.

A similar story unfolded for Nacional in their home game against Vitoria Guimaraes on Wednesday, where a ninth minute goal from João Camacho proved enough to win the match. The guests had 60% of the possession and more shots on target, but in a game in which genuine goal scoring chances were few and far between, Vitoria Guimaraes’ finishing let them down and allowed Nacional to claim all three points. Nacioanl could move into the top ten if they pull off a shock victory against Porto, but that’s going to be much easier said than done.

The last time these two clubs went head to head in March 2017 Porto ran out 7-0 winners at the Estádio Do Dragão. Óliver Torres opened the scoring and a strike from Brahimi made it 2-0 at the break, and two early second half goals from André Silva and Tiquinho saw the hosts lead stretch to four goals. By this point in the match it was a case of damage limitation for Nacional, but Layún added a fifth goal shortly after the hour mark. Tiquinho netted his brace with nineteen minutes left on the clock, and not to be outshone, André Silva scored his second goal in the eighty-ninth minute to wrap up a huge 7-0 win.

With six wins from their last six matches, Porto are the clear form favourites heading into Monday nights match, with their guests managing three wins, one draw, and two defeats during that same period. Marega top scores in the league for Porto with seven goals, while Rochez also has seven goals in the Primeira Liga and leads the way in front of goal for Nacional.

We’re confident that Porto will win and that over 3.5 goals will be scored in the process, and have backed the scoreline to end 4-2. Porto have won four of their last six matches against Nacional and the last three matches between the pair have each produced over 3.5 goals. Porto have won all of their last six matches and three of those games have produced over 3.5 goals. Nacional have scored two or more goals in three of their last six matches and should cause the hosts defence a few issues on Monday.
