FC Porto to Win and Over 2.5 Match Goals

Reason for tip

Porto have won with at least three goals in the game on eight of 12 occasions in the league this term. They should Portimonense have lost nine of their last ten away league games and shipped 20 goals across those fixtures.

FC Porto 3-0

Reason for tip

Porto have hit three or more goals in eight of their 12 home league games to date while Portimonense have shipped 20 in their last ten road trips, during which span they have registered in only two contests.

Mehdi Taremi To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Mehdi Taremi, who has 13 league goals this season, represents the most likely anytime goalscorer option. The Iran international bagged against Russia last week and has struck in four of Porto’s last five home league games too.

FC Porto vs Portimonense Predictions

  • Porto have won with at least three goals in the game on eight of 12 occasions in the league this term.
  • Portimonense have lost nine of their last ten away league games and shipped 20 goals across those fixtures.
  • Mehdi Taremi has scored in four of Porto’s last five home league contests.

Porto win should be a formality

Porto must beat Portimonense on Sunday to keep a modicum of pressure on leaders Benfica ahead of their potential title decider next weekend. Sergio Conceicao’s side look likely to be without captain Pepe again and dropped points without him in their side at Braga last time out.

But they have coped much better without their defensive linchpin when at the Dragao this season and have actually seemed to find scoring goals a touch easier.

The Dragons should have enough firepower at hand to see off a Portimonense side with the Primeira’s second-worst away record since October. Paulo Sergio’s side have lost four on the bounce coming into this and failed to score in each of those defeats.

Taremi is the top pick to score again

With 13 league goals to his name already this term, Mehdi Taremi represents the most likely anytime goalscorer option. The Iran international bagged against Russia last week and has struck in four of Porto’s last five home league games too.

And there could be a few goalscoring chances if this contest comes close to last season’s 7-0 annihilation of the Algarveans when the Portimonense boss selected a weakened line-up a week before they played a relegation six-pointer. The circumstances are slightly different this year, but another unorthodox selection cannot be ruled out.

Hence, a correct score play of 3-0 to the hosts makes the most sense for correct score backers, Porto have hit three or more goals in eight of their 12 home league games to date and Portimonense have shipped 20 in their last ten away dates, during which span they have registered in only two contests.
