      FC Twente vs PSV Predictions

PSV Eindhoven are now an outside shot for the Dutch title after a huge weekend in Holland. The reigning champions moved to within five points of top spot, following Feyenoord’s defeat at Ajax. However, they’re still not in a position to claim a spot in the Champions League next term. They’ll probably need a perfect run in to even make it in to the top two, never mind winning the title. That means they can’t afford to drop points at Twente on Thursday night. Can the hosts pull off a shock?

It’s hard to see Twente getting anything out of this game, given that they’re coming off the back of a demoralising defeat. The hosts were beaten at home by then bottom side Go Ahead Eagles, which is hardly the ideal preparation for a clash with the reigning champions. Despite that defeat the Tukkers are still in 7th place in the table. While they’re in the Europa League play-off spots, they’re banned from competing in Europe.

Twente will still be hoping for a strong finish, but that’s not been going to plan for them. They’ve claimed just three wins in their last eight games, which looks even worse compared to PSV’s form. The visitors have won 10 of their last 11 league games, following their 2-0 victory over Sparta Rotterdam. They’re aiming for another away victory, with most of their wins on the road being pretty comfortable. Their last three triumphs on the road have all been by two goals.

PSV have won by two or more goals in 77% of their away victories, while they’ve kept a clean sheet in 43% of matches on their travels. In addition, the champions have scored 54% of their Eredivisie goals away from home. Meanwhile, Twente have lost by two or more goals in 55% of their league defeats.

Not only are Twente struggling in the league, but they’ve got an awful record against PSV of late. The champions have scored 18 goals in their last six meetings with the Tukkers, conceding just six in return. The visitors have managed to win four of the last five encounters, all of which have been a two goal margin or greater. For us, everything points towards a comfortable victory for the away side, so we’re backing PSV with a -1 Asian Handicap at 93/100 with bet365. We’re also going for a 3-1 win for the champions, which is 10/1 with bet365.
