Fulham to Win

Reason for tip

Sheffield United have lost six of their first seven games this season, including three straight defeats on the road. The visitors have conceded 14 times across their last three league games and the Cottagers should take the points.

Fulham vs Sheffield United Predictions

  • Sheffield United have lost six of their first seven league games this term
  • The Blades have lost eight straight top-flight visits to London 20-3 on aggregate
  • Fulham have won their last two home league clashes with Sheffield United

Cottagers hope to bounce back

Fulham lost 2-0 to Chelsea on Monday night, their third defeat of the season so far. The Cottagers find themselves stuck in midtable, without the surge of enthusiasm which kick-started their 2022/23 campaign.

However, Marco Silva’s side remain a solid Premier League outfit and they look set to do enough to steer clear of danger this season. They should thrive against the promoted sides – having beaten Luton 1-0 at home already this term – while the Cottagers have won both of their Premier League home games against Sheffield United to nil.

Nightmare start for Blades

Sheffield United find themselves propping up the Premier League table, as they’re the only side yet to win a game so far this term. The Blades have faced a whopping 156 shots in the Premier League this season, which works out at 22.3 per game. That’s more than any other side. As it stands, the Blades are the only team on record (dating back to the 2003/04 season) to have faced more than 20 shots per game across a Premier League campaign.

The visitors have lost six of their first seven games, conceding 19 times. This weekend doesn’t appear to be the time for their season to turn around, as the Blades have a terrible record in the capital.

Sheffield United have won just two of their 31 Premier League away games against London sides (D8 L21), with their last win coming at Crystal Palace in early 2020. Since then, the Blades have lost their last eight visits to the capital in the top-flight by an aggregate score of 20-3.

Vinicius to trouble Blades

The visitors have conceded more headed goals (7) and more goals from crosses (9) than any other side in the top-flight so far this term. That should be good news for the Cottagers’ biggest aerial threat – Carlos Vinicius. The Brazilian has made 75% of his shot attempts this season with his head, having the most headed shots across the club despite making just three appearances.

Vinicius impressed against Chelsea on Monday night and he should have earned a start up front for this clash. Given the weaknesses the visitors have shown in the air, the Brazilian is a great anytime goalscorer option.
